About Us

As of 10/21/16, North River Lobster Co is closed for the season. We're still available for large groups and charters but will reopen in April 2017; see our sailing schedule here.

North River Lobster Company is the city's first casual, fresh, three-floor floating lobster shack located at Pier 81 on W41st Street and the Hudson River, convenient to Times Square and the High Line. Be our guest and enjoy all things lobster, amidst breathtaking views of New York City’s skyline.

We take diners on short cruises out onto the Hudson up to seven times per day. Dine and unwind at your leisure, with a sailing schedule designed for quick lobster lunches, happy hour drinks, sunset dinners and incredible views of the Empire State Building and the Midtown skyline. We offer fresh seafood, light fare, signature Mason jar cocktails, buckets of beer and a raw bar boat.

Lunch reservations are available in our laid back, casual atmosphere. Simply come in, pick from a wide variety of seafood staples, order with the bartender and grab a seat - then sip on your favorite cocktail and let New York become New England! Meet your new favorite happy hour in Hell's Kitchen and finally treat NYC like an island. Welcome aboard!

We take our social and environmental responsibility very seriously and are always working with our purveyors on employing the very best in sustainable sourcing practices.

North River Lobster Company is owned and operated by parent company New York Cruise Lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you open/do you sail in the rain?

No, as of 10/21 we are closed for the season. We are available for large groups and charter though - contact us here. In-season, we do sail rain or shine. While we have outdoor space, you can hunker down in our indoor areas - available on each deck - until the rain, rain, goes away.

  • Do you have to pay to sail on North River Lobster Company?

There is a $10 fee to sail on the North River Lobster boat, and a $50 season pass option as well. Click here for the current sailing schedule.

  • Can I use cash on the boat?

Unfortunately no, we are a credit and debit card only restaurant.

  • Do you have to be a certain age to go to North River Lobster Company?

  • Do I need reservations?

No, but a boarding pass is needed and there are a limited amount of those issued daily, so we do suggest that you pre-purchase those to get one and to avoid the line at the box office. Click here for reservations for groups of 14 or more.

  • Is this a table service restaurant?

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets on board. Pets are welcome on the pier only.

  • How many people fit on the boat?

We can fit up to 450 people on the boat comfortably, spanning our three decks.

  • Does the boat have an outdoor deck?

We have three!  We have a floating rooftop and extended outdoor deck space on the 2nd and first levels. On top of that—we have an aft facing balcony on the stern for folks who want to see their troubles float away behind them.

  • I went to North River Lobster Company and it was closed. Why?

Just like other restaurants, sometimes we close for private affairs. When the restaurant is booked ahead of time, we will keep our patrons abreast of the dates. Our sailing schedule provides the most up-to-date information.

The Boat

Primarily utilized as a dinner and privately-chartered event boat since 2007, the Destiny underwent a major renovation in Spring ’14. With that, the North River Lobster Company was born.

Following North River's wildly successful grand opening May 2014, the Destiny was expanded for the 2015 season to add around 600 square feet on each level and can now host 450 guests, making it the largest lobster "boat-staurant"in the nation. There are newly expanded bars on all levels, perfect for groups, after-work cocktails and sunset hangouts.

This season, guests awaiting the next sailing can relax on the newly configured barge bar and lobster shack providing a great venue for a pre-sailing drink by the water. We’ve also renovated the top-deck adding more room for people to hang out and drink while on the water
