North River Lobster Company is New York City’s only floating lobster shack, a New York institution since 2014. Located at Pier 81 on West 41st Street and the Hudson River, North River Lobster Company is convenient to Times Square, Hudson Yards, the High Line, Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, Columbus Circle, and the Upper West Side. Be our guest and enjoy delicious lobster rolls, cold buckets of beer, frozé and refreshing cocktails, amidst breathtaking views of New York City’s skyline.
We cruise on the Hudson River throughout the day, so come aboard to drink, dine and unwind as you take in the inspiring views from the water. Daytime cruises sail up the Hudson for 1 hour, and our 7pm cruise is a 2 hour cruise to the Statue of Liberty and back! Our lobster boat packs in the good times with full service bars on all three decks, with plenty of room for groups, perfect for after-work cocktails and sunset hangouts. Our frequent sailing schedule makes this your ideal spot for everything from quick lunches and happy hour drinks, to casual dinners and weekend brunches. Our menu features lobster rolls and a fresh raw bar, but we’re not all seafood – there’s something for everyone.
We operate rain or shine. We our known for our amazing outdoor space but you can also hunker down in our indoor areas – available on each deck – until the rain goes away.
Yes, anyone over 5 needs a Reserved Boarding Pass to get on the boat. Boarding Passes fees vary depending on the time of day and day of the week but generally speaking are less expensive during the week than on the weekend. The 2 hour cruise to the Statue is alway more expensive than the 1 hour cruise. Reserved Boarding Passes are sold at the box office at Pier 81 or you can buy one here. Season Passes are also available for $45, and are only available for purchase online, not at the ticket office.
We welcome guests of all ages. Kids under 5 sail for free. The only restriction is that children under 10 are not allowed on the top deck.
It depends. If the boat isn’t crowded, stay as long as you like. But, if we are very busy we may ask you to give up your table to a new group. You may move your party inside the boat where we have multiple bars.
No. Though our menu is seafood and lobster-roll focused, there are plenty of non-seafood items like our burger, chicken sandwich and wings. We also have vegetarian and gluten-free items as well.
We only take reservations for groups of 15 or more. We do not take reservations for less than 15 people, but you will need a boarding pass to board, and then it’s first come, first served. Click here to get your boarding pass today.
Absolutely! Please fill out an inquiry form on groups page
We’re casual. The dress code is informal and laid back. Think Key West or Cape Cod.
Unfortunately, no. We do not allow pets on board the boat, but pets are welcome on the pier.
Our boat, the Destiny, can comfortably accommodate 450 people, spanning our three decks.
We have three! We have a floating rooftop and extended outdoor deck space on the first and second levels. And there’s an aft-facing balcony on the stern for folks who want to see their troubles float away behind them.
In the spring and fall, we don’t operate as frequently as during the summer. Please check our website home page for the most up to date schedule. Also, just like other restaurants, sometimes we close for private events although this happens infrequently. If we’re closed or you missed the boat, you can visit our other restaurant boat, La Barca Cantina.
We’re a restaurant so all of our tables are for guests who are planning to dine with us. We have a bar inside which you are welcome to sit at if you’re only having drinks.
It’s easy to kick back on your floating lobster shack. Buy individual boarding passes online or in person at our box office. You can also pick up a season pass which allows you to board as many times as you want all season!
