WE TURN NEW YORK INTO NEW ENGLAND

North River Lobster Company is New York City’s only floating lobster shack, a New York institution since 2014. Located at Pier 81 on West 41st Street and the Hudson River, North River Lobster Company is convenient to Times Square, Hudson Yards, the High Line, Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, Columbus Circle, and the Upper West Side. Be our guest and enjoy delicious lobster rolls, cold buckets of beer, frozé and refreshing cocktails, amidst breathtaking views of New York City’s skyline.

We cruise on the Hudson River throughout the day, so come aboard to drink, dine and unwind as you take in the inspiring views from the water. Daytime cruises sail up the Hudson for 1 hour, and our 7pm cruise is a 2 hour cruise to the Statue of Liberty and back! Our lobster boat packs in the good times with full service bars on all three decks, with plenty of room for groups, perfect for after-work cocktails and sunset hangouts. Our frequent sailing schedule makes this your ideal spot for everything from quick lunches and happy hour drinks, to casual dinners and weekend brunches. Our menu features lobster rolls and a fresh raw bar, but we’re not all seafood – there’s something for everyone.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our 7PM cruise is a 2 hour cruise to the Statue of Liberty and back. Pricing varies depending on the day of the week and time of day. You must have a reserved boarding pass or a season pass to board. We do not take reservations and boarding is first come, first served. If you miss your cruise or if we can’t get you on board, please contact pier81info@nycl.com to rebook your boarding pass. Once aboard, find a spot to chill and let one of our servers bring you anything you need, while you kick back and take in the sights. We take our social and environmental responsibility very seriously and are always working with our purveyors to employ the very best in sustainable sourcing practices.

THIS BOAT RULES THE HUDSON

We sail six times a week in the summer and four to five times a week in the spring and fall. Tuesdays we take the day off.

THE PIER BAR

Before you even board the boat, saddle up to our Pier Bar for a mood-setting pre-sail drink. Get ready to snap some pics as the buoy wall is IG gold!

THE HUDSON

Sunset is our most popular cruise time but we have multiple cruise times throughout the day.

OAR SHOTS – IT’S A THING

We like solo shots and group shots. The Lobster Boat is a party boat.

WE HAD A FEELING YOU’D ASK THAT

ARE YOU OPEN WHEN IT RAINS?

We operate rain or shine. We our known for our amazing outdoor space but you can also hunker down in our indoor areas – available on each deck – until the rain goes away.

DO I HAVE TO PAY TO RIDE?

Yes, anyone over 5 needs a Reserved Boarding Pass to get on the boat. Boarding Passes fees vary depending on the time of day and day of the week but generally speaking are less expensive during the week than on the weekend. The 2 hour cruise to the Statue is alway more expensive than the 1 hour cruise. Reserved Boarding Passes are sold at the box office at Pier 81 or you can buy one here. Season Passes are also available for $45, and are only available for purchase online, not at the ticket office.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A CERTAIN AGE TO GET ON BOARD?

We welcome guests of all ages. Kids under 5 sail for free. The only restriction is that children under 10 are not allowed on the top deck.

CAN I STAY ON THE BOAT LONGER THAN MY CRUISE TIME?

It depends. If the boat isn’t crowded, stay as long as you like. But, if we are very busy we may ask you to give up your table to a new group. You may move your party inside the boat where we have multiple bars.

DO YOU OFFER ONLY SEAFOOD?

No. Though our menu is seafood and lobster-roll focused, there are plenty of non-seafood items like our burger, chicken sandwich and wings. We also have vegetarian and gluten-free items as well.

DO I NEED RESERVATIONS?

We only take reservations for groups of 15 or more. We do not take reservations for less than 15 people, but you will need a boarding pass to board, and then it’s first come, first served. Click here to get your boarding pass today.

CAN I BOOK A PARTY ON THE BOAT?

Absolutely! Please fill out an inquiry form on groups page

WHAT’S THE DRESS CODE?

We’re casual. The dress code is informal and laid back. Think Key West or Cape Cod.

CAN I BRING MY PET ON BOARD?

Unfortunately, no. We do not allow pets on board the boat, but pets are welcome on the pier.

HOW MANY PEOPLE FIT ON THE BOAT?

Our boat, the Destiny, can comfortably accommodate 450 people, spanning our three decks.

DOES THE BOAT HAVE AN OUTDOOR DECK FOR DINING?

We have three! We have a floating rooftop and extended outdoor deck space on the first and second levels. And there’s an aft-facing balcony on the stern for folks who want to see their troubles float away behind them.

I WENT TO THE LOBSTER BOAT AND YOU WERE CLOSED. WHY?

In the spring and fall, we don’t operate as frequently as during the summer. Please check our website home page for the most up to date schedule. Also, just like other restaurants, sometimes we close for private events although this happens infrequently. If we’re closed or you missed the boat, you can visit our other restaurant boat, La Barca Cantina.

CAN WE COME JUST FOR DRINKS?

We’re a restaurant so all of our tables are for guests who are planning to dine with us. We have a bar inside which you are welcome to sit at if you’re only having drinks.
