North River Lobster Company is New York City’s first and only floating lobster shack. Located at Pier 81 on West 41st Street and the Hudson River, North River Lobster Company is convenient to Times Square, Hudson Yards, the High Line, Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, Columbus Circle, and the Upper West Side. Be our guest and enjoy delicious lobster rolls, cold buckets of beer, frozé and refreshing cocktails, amidst breathtaking views of New York City’s skyline.
We cruise up the Hudson River throughout the day, so come aboard to drink, dine and unwind as you take in the inspiring views from the water. Our lobster boat packs in the good times with full service bars on all three decks, with plenty of service for groups, after-work cocktails and sunset hangouts. Our frequent sailing schedule makes this your ideal spot for everything from quick lunches and happy hour drinks, to casual dinners and weekend brunches. Our menu features lobster rolls and a fresh raw bar, but we’re not all seafood – there’s something for everyone.
We do not take reservations and boarding is first come, first served. It’s only $10 to board and cruise with us for the entire day. Want to hang out all summer? We offer a $25 season pass! Boarding passes and season passes can be purchased online, or at the Pier 81 box office. Once aboard, find a spot to chill and let one of our servers bring you anything you need, while you kick back and take in the sights.
We take our social and environmental responsibility very seriously and are always working with our purveyors to employ the very best in sustainable sourcing practices.
The Pier Bar
Before you even board the boat, saddle up to our Pier Bar for a mood-setting pre-sail drink - get ready to snap some pics as the buoy wall is Insta gold!
The Hudson
Once aboard, sit back, relax and enjoy the views as we head north up the Hudson.
Multiple Bars on Board
With a bar on every level of our 3-level boat, you won't have any trouble finding a great spot to hang.
Did We mention Lobster Rolls?
OK, we did. But, we gotta tell you, these are some damn fine lobster rolls. And we've got plenty of other great bites, too.
Views From The Upper Deck
Sun yourself or watch the sunset from our top deck, with unobstructed views of the Manhattan Skyline.
We do operate rain or shine. While we have outdoor space, you can hunker down in our indoor areas – available on each deck – until the rain, rain goes away.
Yes, anyone over 5 needs a Boarding Pass to get on the boat. Boarding Passes are only $10 each and are good for an entire day (season passes are also available for only $25). To purchase Boarding Passes in advance, click here. Passes are also sold at the box office.
We welcome guests of all ages, and kids under 5 ride free. The only restriction is that children under 10 are not allowed on the top deck.
It depends. If the boat isn’t crowded, stay as long as you like. But, due to recent capacity issues, we are requesting that guests stay for no more than two hours. Your pass is technically good for the whole day, whether that is a quick lunch or a long boozy adventure.
No. Though our menu is seafood and lobster roll focused, there are plenty of land-based items on the menu like our delicious wings and burger. We have vegetarian and gluten free options as well.
We only take reservations for groups of 15 or more. We do not take reservations for less than 15 people, but you will need a boarding pass to board, and then it’s first come, first served. Click here to get your boarding pass today.
Absolutely! Please email pier81events@nycl.com or fill out an inquiry form here and we’ll be in touch.
North River Lobster Company is fun and casual. We’d like to feel as though you’ve escaped the chaos of Manhattan for a mini getaway on the water with good friends.
We’re casual, the dress code is informal and laid back, think Key West or Cape Cod.
Unfortunately, no. We do not allow pets on board the boat, but pets are welcome on the pier.
We can fit up to 450 people on the boat comfortably, spanning our three decks. NOTICE: During the summer of 2020, we will be limiting capacity to about 150 passengers per sailing. As a result, we encourage our guests to stay no longer than two hours.
We have three! We have a floating rooftop and extended outdoor deck space on the first and second levels. And there’s an aft-facing balcony on the stern for folks who want to see their troubles float away behind them.
Just like other restaurants, sometimes we close for private events. When the restaurant is booked we will update this website to keep guests informed. Our sailing schedule provides the most up-to-date information.
It’s easy to kick back on our floating lobster shack this season. Buy individual Boarding Passes for only $10 online or in-person at our box office (Pier 81 @ 41st Street). You can also pick up an unlimited Season Pass for only $25!
